Nichols meets with County Extension Agents

Austin, TX — Today, State Senator Robert Nichols (R-Jacksonville) met with Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Agents from Anderson, Cherokee, Henderson and Houston counties.

"These Extension agents make a significant impact in each of our counties," said Senator Robert Nichols. "Through the programs and services which are offered, they help provide necessary services and education to the people of East Texas ."

The variety of functions that each Extension office provides was discussed. While there are similarities in all of the offices across Texas, each are tailored to meet the needs of the specific communities within their counties.

“Senator Nichols’ support of our organization, educational programs and efforts is greatly appreciated. We thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to visit with him and his staff at our District 5 Legislative Interpretation Event," said Aaron Low, Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Agent-Cherokee County

Texas A&M AgriLife Extension has 250 offices serving all 254 counties within Texas. They also have 13 collaborative AgriLife Research and Extension center located throughout the state. Some major programs are in mitigating drought impacts, improving emergency management and protecting human health through education about diet, exercise and disease prevention and management. There primary youth program, Texas 4-H, also engages youth every year in learning, leadership development as well as community service.
