David Dewhurst has served as an officer in the U.S. Air Force, the Central Intelligence Agency, and the U.S. Department of State. He played basketball for the University of Arizona while in college and started his own company in 1981. He speaks Spanish and breeds and raises purebred cattle in his hometown of Houston, Texas. Before being elected Lieutenant Governor, he was the Commissioner of the General Land Office, where he worked to save money and restore our beaches and bays to help protect the environment and to attract more tourists.
