Statement from Senator Kel Seliger on the Six-Month Extension on Proposed Listing for Dunes Sagebrush Lizard
AUSTIN, TX — The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service announced yesterday a six-month extension on the final determination of the proposed listing of the Dunes Sagebrush Lizard for protection under the Endangered Species Act.
"I am encouraged by the U. S. Fish and Wildlife Service's decision to grant a six-month extension of the final determination for the proposed listing of this species and have confidence that during these additional months, the science will show that the listing of the Dunes Sagebrush Lizard is premature at the very least, and quite possibly, unnecessary."
Currently the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is requesting comments on the Texas Conservation Plan for the Dunes Sagebrush Lizard. The comment period closes Monday, December 5, 2011. Senator Seliger has submitted the attached comments.
