Texas Women Veterans Honored with Specialty License Plate
AUSTIN — Today, the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles (TxDMV) will make available a specialty license plate in honor of the women veterans of our U.S. Armed Forces as a result of efforts by Senator Kel Seliger during the 82nd Legislative Session.
This license plate will be issued at no cost to woman veterans, both active and inactive, who meet certain requirements. A registration, local fee, and replacement fee will apply, and there is no limit to the number of sets that can be issued to a qualified applicant.
"I am grateful for the opportunity to honor this extraordinary group of American heroes, veterans and women in military service. Since the time, as a young boy, that I decided I wanted to learn to fly, one of my inspirations has been Florene Watson, a WAF pilot during WWII, who flew almost every aircraft in our arsenal. This is a fitting and deserved tribute," Senator Seliger stated.
For more information on how to obtain this license plate, please contact your local County Tax Assessor-Collector's office, or call the TxDMV at 888-DMV-GOTX.
Seliger represents District 31 in the Texas Senate, spanning 26 counties from the Panhandle to the Permian Basin. Seliger currently serves as Chair of the Senate Select Committee on Redistricting, as well as actively serving on the Education, Finance, International Relations and Trade, and Natural Resources Committees.
