Estes Appointed to Southern States Biobased Alliance
Austin - State Senator Craig Estes (R-Wichita Falls) has been named to the Southern States Biobased Alliance by Governor Rick Perry to represent the State of Texas.
"I am honored by this appointment and I am eager to continue my work to increase domestic energy production through biobased fuels which will strengthen our economy and reduce our reliance of foreign oil," said Estes.
Serving as Chairman of the Senate Subcommittee on Agriculture, Rural Affairs, and Coastal Resources, as well as Vice Chairman of the Senate Natural Resources Committee, Estes has been a leader in the Texas Senate for the push for biobased fuels and renewable energy production.
"Biobased fuels represent an opportunity to decrease our dependence on foreign oil while strengthening our local economies," added Estes. "If we can replace foreign oil with domestic energy, then we keep more of our money and our jobs working here at home."
The Southern States Biobased Alliance is an advisory committee within the Southern States Energy Board, which seeks to improve the economic development and the quality of life through innovations in energy and environmental policies, programs and technologies throughout the member states.
Estes is one of two Texas appointees including Texas Agriculture Commissioner Todd Staples.
