Estes continues leadership role on important Senate committees

AUSTIN -- State Senator Craig Estes, R-Wichita Falls, will continue his leadership role on issues of paramount importance to constituents in his district as a result of committee assignments announced Thursday by Lieutenant Governor David Dewhurst.

"I am extremely pleased with my committee assignments, and I appreciate the confidence that Lieutenant Governor Dewhurst has placed in me to serve in these positions of leadership," Estes said.

Estes was appointed to continue serving as Vice Chairman of Veterans Affairs and Military Installations and the Subcommittee on Base Realignment and Closure.

Estes also was appointed to continue serving on Business and Commerce, Natural Resources, Subcommittee on Agriculture, and International Relations and Trade.

"My committees reflect the diversity of the 18 counties in Senate District 30 while insuring me with a continued strong voice on issues of major importance to the nearly 700,000 constituents I serve," Estes said.

Estes' sprawling district covers more than 15,000 square miles including the counties of Archer, Baylor, Clay, Cooke, Grayson, Jack, Montague, Parker, Palo Pinto, Shackelford, Stephens, Throckmorton, Wichita, Wilbarger, Wise, and Young, and parts of Collin and Denton counties.

Detailed work of the 79th Legislature will be divided among the 31 state senators serving on these 19 committees: Administration, Business and Commerce, Subcommittee on Emerging Technologies, Criminal Justice, Education, Subcommittee on Higher Education, Finance, Governmental Organization, Health and Human Services, Transportation and Homeland Security, Intergovernmental Relations, International Relations and Trade, Jurisprudence, Natural Resources, Subcommittee on Agriculture, State Affairs, Veterans Affairs and Military Installations, Subcommittee on Base Realignment and Closure, and Nominations.
