SENATOR LUCIO HONORS FAMILIES OF FALLEN SOLDIERS

AUSTIN, TX -- On Tuesday, March 6, Sen. Eddie Lucio, Jr. presented Senate Resolutions in the Senate Chamber to three South Texas families of soldiers recently killed in the line of duty overseas.

Senate Resolution 415 honored Marine Lance Corporal Julio C. Cisneros-Alvarez from Pharr. The 22-year-old died Jan. 6, 2005, in Iraq. He was mortally injured in an ambush in Al Anbar Province while acting on behalf of four marines, who were also wounded in the blast, and they credit their survival to his bravery. Corporal Cisneros-Alvarez trained in various roles such as machine gunner, assault man, drill instructor and nurse's assistant. He joined the military with the goal of one day becoming a doctor.
