SENATOR LUCIO'S FATHER PASSES AWAY
AUSTIN, TX -- Eddie Lucio, father of state Sen. Eddie Lucio, Jr., passed away Monday afternoon of normal causes at his Brownsville home.
Mr. Lucio, who was 89 years old, prayed his rosary up to his last moments. Sen. Lucio said that this was a testament to the religious life his father led.
Sen. Lucio described his father as a man full of compassion, very patriotic and always demonstrating kindness and empathy for his fellow man. "I will always remember him as a man who "gave so much with so little," he said.
He volunteered for the Army Air corps during World War II and served in North Africa, which the Senator described as one of the "proudest moments" of his father's life.
"People will remember him for the kindness of his heart and for his compassion," added Sen. Lucio. "He left a lot of love."
