Sen. Lucio bids farewell to departing Sen. Armbrister

AUSTIN, TX-It is with sadness that I learn of Sen. Armbrister's decision to not seek re-election. He is a long-time friend, and I feel that my own public service has been enriched by what he offered the Texas Senate. He has been a great statesman and leader to all Texans. We have served on numerous committees together, most recently on the Business and Commerce and State Affairs Committees.

Sen. Armbrister was the first Chairman I served under in the Senate, and together we served on the Natural Resources Committee for the next 12 years. Much of what I learned about being a Chairman and about Senate protocol, I learned from this great member of the Texas Senate.

One of the greatest assets he contributed to the Senate was his profound knowledge of the Senate rules, ensuring to the best of his knowledge that they were closely adhered to. This great American and outstanding Texan will be sorely missed by us all, but his legacy will continue for years to come.
