SEN. LUCIO TO HOLD PRESS CONFERENCE ON LIFE WITHOUT PAROLE LEGISLATION AFTER CRIMINAL JUSTICE COMMITTEE HEARING
AUSTIN, TX--Sen. Eddie Lucio, Jr. announced he will hold a press conference tomorrow, Tuesday, March 15, on Senate Bill 60, the Life Without Parole Bill, immediately following the Senate Criminal Justice Committee hearing on the legislation.
The Committee meets at 1:30 p.m. If session ends later than 1:30 p.m., the Committee will meet upon adjournment. The hearing on Senate Bill 60 will be in the Capitol Extension, Room E1.016 and the press conference will follow in the same room (please allow 10 to 15 minutes for set-up).
Senate Bill 60 would give Texas juries a third sentencing option in capital cases. Currently, individuals charged with a capital crime can receive either the death penalty or life with the possibility of parole in 40 years.
