Sen. Lucio's constituents confirmed by full Texas Senate to serve on boards

AUSTIN, TX--Sixteen constituents from Sen. Eddie Lucio, Jr.'s District (27) were confirmed by the Senate this 78th legislative session to state boards and commissions. Before confirming a potential appointment, the Governor must request approval by the nominee's Senator. During session, the Nominations Committee must consider whether to approve each nominee, at which time most are called to testify. Then the full Senate is given the opportunity to confirm with or without further discussion.

"I want to thank Governor Perry, who is authorized to make governmental appointments, for selecting these well-qualified individuals to serve and represent the needs of all Texans," said Sen. Lucio. The Governor appoints both expert and public members to various state boards, commissions and councils, as well as to task forces that advise either the Governor or executive agencies, or to state elected and judicial offices when vacancies occur.
