Opening of the Queen Isabella Causeway

AUSTIN, TX--"What a proud and glorious day not only for South Texas, but for this entire great state as well. We stared adversity straight in the face and defeated it. The rest of Texas will use the Queen Isabella Causeway collapse and its reopening as a blue print: a blueprint of what great things can be accomplished when we all work together to overcome adversity. It is one of my proudest days as a South Texan. I'm thankful for the hundreds of people who will return to work, and have great concern for their families who have suffered economic hardships.

This Thanksgiving I will celebrate the opening of the Causeway, but at the same time will feel sad for those who lost loved ones at the collapse. Their memories will forever be in our hearts. May God bless their families and bless us all at this time," said state Sen. Eddie Lucio, Jr., D-Brownsville.
