Senator Leticia Van de Putte Praises Volunteers Working With Law Enforcement
San Marcos – The Texas Citizen Police Academy Alumni Association has assembled in San Marcos for their annual training. The attendees, comprised of about 140 statewide police chiefs, are gathered to hear local, county, state and federal law enforcement agencies provide the tools for civic-minded citizens to give back to their communities as volunteers.
Senator Leticia Van de Putte delivered the keynote address to the members of the Texas Citizen Police Academy Alumni Association.
Below is an excerpt from this evening's speech:
"Texans do their best work in the toughest of times. We face some daunting challenges across the state. In the face of an international humanitarian challenge, I have seen Texans, just like you, step up to work with law enforcement officials and faith-based organizations. Texans are volunteering their time, and caring for those in need. Across Texas there are heroes in our midst. I thank you for being one.
"So I ask you, please keep it up. Spread the word, continue to educate and share your successes. Continue to partner and perhaps one day our state and federal governments will take a page out of your playbook and we can finally get things done."
