Senator Van de Putte Co-Chairing 'Extreme Makeover' Event Helping Veterans
(Austin) — State Senator Leticia Van de Putte (Dist. 26), announced Tuesday that she is honored to be co-chairing a fundraising event that will aid HelpingaHero.org and ABC-TV's Extreme Makeover: Home Edition in paying off the mortgage of a warrior in transition (a wounded veteran) and building 10 additional homes.
The event will be held at the Grand Hyatt San Antonio on Thursday, January 19. Sen. Van de Putte's co-chairs include Rep. Jose Menendez and Mayor Julian Castro.
Attire for the event is Black Tie and Boots, and the theme will be Winter Wonderland, as the show will air in December 2012. The event will feature the Extreme Makeover cast and will include Lee Greenwood performing "God Bless the USA" and four former members of the Ten Tenors singing "Here's to the Heroes." Following will be a public parade on the Riverwalk honoring warriors in transition.
So far, $800,000 has been raised toward the $1.1 million goal.
Tickets are available for $500, and reservations may be made at ExtremeFundraiser@gmail.com, or call 888-786-9531 for more information.
