Senator Van de Putte Partners with Family Service Association of San Antonio to Provide Free Flu Shots from Walgreens
(San Antonio) — Senator Leticia Van de Putte (D-San Antonio) is partnering with Family Service Association to offer free flu vaccine vouchers. The flu vouchers, donated by Walgreens, are available to eligible community members. If you are interested in receiving a voucher, contact Family Service Association (210) 299-2400.
"With the holidays approaching, this is the perfect time to not only protect yourself, but your loved ones as well," said Senator Van de Putte. "I am thankful to Walgreens for providing San Antonio residents with access to flu vaccinations. An influenza vaccination is the best line of defense during flu season, and is a simple step to ensure healthy holidays with family and friends."
Officially, flu season runs from October through May, though most flu illness in Texas usually occurs in December, January, and February. The Texas Department of Health and Human Services is encouraging everyone 6 months and older to get vaccinated.
Shannon Nisbet, Vice President of Development and Donor Relations at Family Service Association noted, "It's important that our most vulnerable populations stay healthy this holiday season. We are pleased to partner with Senator Van de Putte to protect children, seniors, and families in need from becoming seriously ill."
