Senator Van de Putte to visit Brandeis High School for NCSL's Legislators in School Program
(SAN ANTONIO) -- On Thursday, October 9, 2008, at 12:30 p.m., Senator Leticia Van de Putte (D-San Antonio) will visit the students of Louis D. Brandeis High School, located at 13011 Kyle Seale Parkway.
Students will learn what the life of a legislator is like when Van de Putte joins state legislators from across the country to participate in the National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL) Legislators in School program. NCSL has created interactive curriculum for the students, complimented by educational materials geared to specific age groups. The program is designed to teach young people about the processes and pressures involved in being a state legislator, and to encourage student participation in government.

Senator Leticia Van de Putte served as the President of the National Conference of State Legislatures from 2006-2007. She was the first Hispanic and the first Texan to lead the prestigious organization.
