Senator Leticia Van de Putte and Representative David Leibowitz Present Gifts to Frank Madla Elementary
(SAN ANTONIO) -- On March 2, at 10:00 am, Senator Leticia Van de Putte and Representative David Leibowitz will make a special presentation to Frank Madla Elementary School to honor the late Senator Madla. They will be joined by State Education Commissioner Dr. Shirley Neeley, Helen Madla, Dr. Frank Madla III and other members of the Madla family.
Senator Van de Putte will donate 32 books to the school library with a special message to the students of Frank Madla Elementary from each member of the Texas Senate and the Lieutenant Governor, David Dewhurst. Representative David Leibowitz will present the state flag that flew over the Capitol on the day Senator Madla was laid to rest.
Senator Leticia Van de Putte said "My colleagues and I want the students of Frank Madla Elementary to know how very important the school children of Texas were to their namesake. With these books we honor the memory of Senator Madla, while stressing the importance of reading and learning."
"It is an honor to be able to present this Texas flag to the Frank Madla Elementary School," said Leibowitz. "Senator Madla had such a deep commitment to education and this community, it's a fitting place for this special flag to reside."
The presentation will take place in the school courtyard, between the two main wings, at Frank Madla Elementary School, located at 6100 Royalgate Drive.
