Texas Senator Leticia Van de Putte Celebrates Red Ribbon Week
SAN ANTONIO, TX -- On Friday, October 27, Senator Leticia Van de Putte (D - San Antonio) will participate in Red Ribbon Week by reading to 5th grade students at Cleto Rodriguez Elementary School, located at 3626 W. Durango, one block east of OLLU. The Senator will be on site from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
The first Nationwide Red Ribbon Campaign was organized in 1988. The campaign continues to reach millions of U.S. children. In 1997, the Texas Commission on Alcohol and Drug Abuse began contributing to the Red Ribbon Campaign in Texas, and to the hopes and beliefs behind this effort to protect children from alcohol and drugs.
Senator Leticia Van de Putte said, "As a mother of six and a pharmacist, I join other parents and health care professionals in doing all that is possible to warn children of the dangers of alcohol and drugs."
