Van de Putte, Solomons lead efforts to create the Texas Homebuilder Commission

Austin - Senator Leticia Van de Putte (D-San Antonio), District 26 and Representative Burt Solomons (R-Carrollton), District 65 simultaneously filed SB 773 / HB 1495 for the creation of the Homebuilder Registration Act today. This Act would serve to protect the homeowner's rights and maintain the professionalism of the homebuilder's industry. The legislation would also create the Texas Homebuilder Commission and would require a registry of all certified homebuilders in Texas, adoption of building standards, and establishment of administrative penalties for violations of the Act.

"This bill provides additional professionalism to the industry of homebuilding in Texas, while creating a balanced approach to disputes between the homebuilder and the consumer," commented Representative Solomons.

"Our homeowners deserve quality standards in constructing new homes and the fairest treatment in addressing grievances. This legislation would ensure that they receive it," Senator Van de Putte concluded.
