Fraser Lands Committee Seats on Finance, State Affairs, Business & Commerce
AUSTIN -- State Senator Troy Fraser today was appointed by Lieutenant Governor Bill Ratliff to serve on three legislative committees, including the budget-writing Senate Finance Committee.
Fraser, R-Horseshoe Bay, will also serve as vice chairman of the Business & Commerce Committee, and as a member of the State Affairs Committee.
"I'm pleased and grateful to Lieutenant Governor Ratliff for such wonderful committee assignments," Fraser said. "I know from having served last session on the Finance Committee that it will give me direct input into the budget process, and that it can lead to good things for Senate District 24."
Ratliff, in announcing his committee appointments, said he will propose expanding the Finance Committee from 11 to13 members.
Fraser said he is also looking forward to serving as vice chairman of the Business & Commerce Committee, formerly known as the Committee on Economic Development.
"These are great committees to work on, and I'm looking forward to another fast-paced session," Fraser said.
Senate District 24 comprises 21 counties, stretching from Bell County on the eastern border to Mitchell County, west of Abilene. Major population centers are the cities of Killeen, Temple, Brownwood, Sweetwater and Abilene.
