AUSTIN, Texas -- Starting Saturday, March 24, constituents of Senatorial District 23 and cable television viewers across the D/FW metroplex will have the opportunity to tune into "The Austin Report with State Senator Royce West." The Austin Report is a cable show that Senator West films from the Capitol highlighting major issues and legislation before the legislature.

The 2001 inaugural show will debut on Dallas Community Television at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 24 (Channel 13B) and again on Wednesday, March 28 (Channel 27A) at 8:30 p.m. These days and times will serve as the regular time/day slots.

Senator West will utilize the first show to showcase his district, discuss the hot topics for the present legislative session, detail his current legislative priorities, outline his accomplishments and introduce his district, Capitol and committee staff. Subsequent shows will afford him the opportunity to discuss various topics of district and statewide interest.

"I have taped the show for the past few sessions to reach my constituency and other interested individuals utilizing another medium," said Senator West. " It is imperative that citizens are kept abreast of what is going on in their state Capitol."

In addition to the cable program, Senator West is heard on several weekly radio shows and is a regular contributor to various newspapers in the metroplex and across the state.

Senator West currently serves as chairman of the Senate Jurisprudence Committee and is a member of the Senate Criminal Justice and Intergovernmental Relations Committees.
