Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst and Senator Judith Zaffirini, D-Laredo, will join university officials, students, faculty and staff for the dedication of Texas A&M International University's 47,973 square-foot Kinesiology, Wellness and Recreation Center and the groundbreaking of the new Student Success Center. In 2003 the duo secured $12.5 million in tuition revenue bond authority for the new building.
Construction of the university's latest capital improvements was made possible by the leadership of Lt. Gov. Dewhurst and Senator Zaffirini in securing $37.6 million in tuition revenue bond authority. The new facilities greatly will enhance educational access and excellence at TAMIU.
They also will participate in a special luncheon at TAMIU's Student Center Ballroom where the 20 recipients of the Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst Mr. South Texas 2007 Scholarship will be awarded.
