DFPS Commissioner Heiligenstein to brief Blue Ribbon Task Force

Sen. Carlos Uresti has called a meeting of the Blue Ribbon Task Force in response to the recent deaths of children in Bexar County from apparent abuse and neglect.

Commissioner Anne Heiligenstein of the Department of Family and Protective Services has accepted an invitation to brief task force members on Child Protective Services' policies and procedures in investigating cases of child abuse and neglect.

When: Tuesday, Oct. 20, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

Where: San Antonio Central Library, 600 Soledad St.

Who: Sen. Carlos Uresti, DFPS Commissioner Anne Heiligenstein; Toni Van Buren, United Way; child service providers, advocates and Blue Ribbon Task Force volunteers

Senator Uresti represents Senate District 19, a 55,000 square mile area extending from the city of San Antonio in Bexar County to the Lower Valley of El Paso County and including approximately 750,000 people. The largest legislative district in the nation, it spans two time zones and contains nine of the 14 border counties in Texas.
