Senator Carlos I. Uresti invites the public to celebrate the grand opening of his San Antonio Senate District Office, on Saturday, October 6, 2007 from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM, located inside the Falcon International Bank at 2530 S.W. Military Drive on the Southside of San Antonio.
"I want people to feel comfortable calling or walking into 'their' Senate office," said Sen. Uresti. "Our office is here to help my constituents address any issues, problems or concerns they may have."
The office conference room has been named the "Blue Room" in the memory of Jovonie Ochoa, a four-year old child who died on Christmas Day in 2003 of child abuse and neglect. The room will be dedicated during the grand opening on Saturday.
"The Blue Room will be where the Blue Ribbon Task Force meets to continue generating preventative measures for the vulnerable children of Bexar County," commented Uresti. "This is an ongoing issue that I have devoted the resources available through my office to correct."
Sen. Uresti is the founder and chair of the Blue Ribbon Task Force, a local coalition of community members passionate about the deterrence of child abuse and neglect. For more information, visit www.blueribbontaskforce.com.
The grand opening event which is open to the community will be complete with entertainment for the children, tour of the office, meet and greet with the Senator and staff, ribbon cutting ceremony, dedication of the Blue Room and free refreshments for the public.
Sen. Uresti will be available for comment and questions from members of the media during the event.
