Statement of the Members of the Senate Harris County Delegation Regarding Harris County Hospital District

"We would like to express our disappointment over the recent discussions regarding the future of Lois Moore as chief executive officer of the Harris County Hospital District. It is our belief that Mrs. Moore has been a strong leader in her years of service to Houston and the Hospital District.

"Lois Moore has been a strong and effective leader in a time of rapid changes in the health care industry. During this time, those changes have posed serious challenges to the District. Under Ms. Moore's steady hand, the District has continued to provide excellent care and compassionate service to the people of Harris County.

"Over the years, each of us have worked closely with Mrs. Moore on important health and governmental issues that have a tremendous impact on the lives of Texans in Houston and Harris County. At all times, she has treated the concerns and suggestions of the members of the Harris County Delegation with honesty and respect.

"We hope the members of the board of the Harris County Hospital District will act responsibly and with the knowledge that we believe Mrs. Moore is an asset to the District and to the Houston area."
