Senator Ellis Re-appointed as Chair of Senate Jurisprudence Committee
Also appointed to Inter-governmental relations and Administration committees

Austin -- Texas State Senator Rodney Ellis was re-appointed today by Lieutenant Governor Rick Perry to serve as Chair of the Senate Jurisprudence Committee. The 76th Legislative Session will mark the second term Senator Ellis has served as chair.

"I am honored to have the opportunity to continue serving as Chair of the Senate Jurisprudence Committee," said Senator Ellis. "I look forward to working with members of the committee to enact a responsible reform agenda. This session, we will focus on improving the way we select our judges, increasing efficiency in the court room, expanding diversity on the bench and modernizing our courts. These reforms are crucial to prepare Texas courts for the 21st Century."

Senator Ellis will also serve on the Inter-Governmental Relations Committee, which oversees city and county issues before the legislature, and the Senate Administration Committee, which oversees day-to-day Senate activities..

"My appointment to the Inter-Governmental Relations Committee gives Houstonians and Harris County residents another voice on city and local issues before the Senate," said Ellis. "I look forward to working with Senator Lindsay to ensure the interests of Houston and Harris County are not overlooked in the legislature."
