State Senators join to roll out month of action to activate working Texans who would benefit from health care expansion

(Austin, Texas)—Working Texans and members of the Texas Organizing Project, who would qualify for health care expansion, will be joined at The Austin State Capitol by State Senators Rodney Ellis, Wendy Davis and Sylvia Garcia, to announce the launch of The 1.5 Campaign. Senators will join working Texans in releasing the details of the campaign that will start with a month of action that will inject the voices of the most impacted working uninsured into the health care expansion debate in Austin. Hundreds of canvassers and volunteers will visit clinics, grocery stores, emergency rooms and neighborhoods in Dallas, Houston, San Antonio and the Rio Grande Valley to identify working Texans who are part of the 1.5 million who could receive access to affordable health coverage IF Texas accepts $78 billion in federal funding.

The event will come on the heels of a round table discussion by Rick Perry discussing the importance of not expanding health care in Texas. Notably absent from this and other discussions in Austin are the affected working uninsured.
