Senator Rodney Ellis Welcomes Home Cornelius Dupree,
Celebrates his Innocence and Urges Legislature to Pass ID Reform Bill
(Houston, TX)—On Friday, January 7 at 3:30 p.m., State Senator Rodney Ellis will welcome home Cornelius Dupree who was declared innocent on Tuesday of a rape and robbery DNA proves he didn't commit. Dupree served 30 years of a 75-year sentence before he was released on parole in July.
Dupree served more time in prison than any other person in Texas who was later cleared through DNA testing. Only two of the 265 people cleared by DNA have served more time in prison before being exonerated.
