Senator Ellis and Museum District Alliance Kick Off 13th Annual Museum District Day
(Houston, TX) — Today, Texas State Senator Rodney Ellis, and officials from Houston Museum District, kicked off the 13th Annual Museum District Day at the Houston Children's Museum to be held on Saturday, September 12 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. This year Senator Ellis has partnered with the district to attract more communities of color to be apart of this free, family event in the Houston Museum District.
"The Houston Museum District has always promoted the event to all communities throughout the Houston area.", said Senator Rodney Ellis, "This year, we have worked with schools, nursing homes, and community groups to let Houstonians know this special day at the museum is open to anyone that wants to come out"
Seventeen museums will waive their general admission fee to offer the community the opportunity to enjoy the District's diverse displays of art, science, nature and history.
"Museum District Day is an educational experience for all Houstonians to enjoy. I also encourage folks to bike, walk, or run to make it a healthy experience", Ellis continued.
Participants will have the opportunity to board a free bus shuttle at any participating museum and spend the entire day exploring favorite museums and discovering new destinations. Museum District Day will feature fascinating exhibitions, hands-on activities, demonstrations and performances throughout the day.
State Senator Rodney Ellis represents Senate District 13, which includes the Houston Museum District. He chairs the Senate Committee on Government Organization.
