SENATOR NELSON ANNOUNCES MEDICAID REFORM PLAN

AUSTIN -- State Senator Jane Nelson, R-Lewisville, unveiled legislation (SB 10) designed to reform Medicaid and reduce the number of Texans without health insurance at a news conference today at the Texas Capitol.

"This plan will increase access to health care, stabilize our costs and, most importantly, improve the overall health of patients," Senator Nelson said. "It focuses heavily on preventive health, transparency and creating more health care options for individuals."

Also appearing at today's news conference was Lieutenant Governor David Dewhurst, who said: "I believe we must continue to provide a safety net for children, the elderly and the frail. Medicaid reform is about improving our health care outcomes, containing costs in the Medicaid program and developing solutions that will create more affordable options for the uninsured."
