Make Education a Priority Campaign to urge legislators
to act now to fix Texas' broken school finance system and not wait for school finance litigation appeals.
F. Scott McCown, retired state district judge who presided over all of Texas' public school finance cases from 1990 to 2002, will join educators from across the state to tell legislators that waiting for the results of any appeals to the recent school finance trial decision that the state is not adequately or efficiently providing for Texas' public schools is a false hope and hurting students.
The news conference will take place Saturday, February 23, at 9 a.m. in the Senate Press Room (2E.9) in the Texas Capitol.
McCown will provide insight into what legislators can expect from any appeals to the recent decision, while superintendents and school trustees will share examples of how students suffer every day legislators fail to address Texas' broken school finance system.
