Governor to Sign Senator Davis' Bacterial Meningitis Bill into Law
AUSTIN — Governor Perry will on Thursday ceremonially sign House Bill 4189, a piece of legislation that includes provisions championed by Senator Wendy Davis (Senate Bill 819) that will help deter the spread of bacterial meningitis on college campuses in Texas.
Also in attendance at the bill signing ceremony will be Jamie Schanbaum, who became the face of the movement for meningitis awareness and vaccination after she contracted a particularly virulent strain of the infection last fall while attending the University of Texas at Austin.
