Sen. Carlos Uresti hosts a Back to School Health & Social Services Fair this Saturday for the children and families of South San Antonio.
Representatives from health and human service agencies, medical professions, and local community organizations will provide health screenings, information handouts, and other healthy and fun activities.
Sen. Uresti expects to give away up to 3,000 backpacks to South Side students at Saturday's event. District wide, he will give out 10,000 backpacks this year, for a total of some 30,000 since 2008.
A free lunch will be provided, along with plenty of entertainment, including Justin Bieber and Hannah Montana impersonators, JOVEN dancers, and McCollum High School's Color Guard and award-winning cheerleaders.

Event sponsors include AT&T, Alamo Colleges/Palo Alto College, the Blue Ribbon Task Force, San Antonio Food Bank, Pearle Vision, Silver Eagle Distributors, United Way of San Antonio and Bexar County, University Health System and Wal-Mart.
Senator Uresti represents Senate District 19, a 55,000 square mile area extending from the city of San Antonio in Bexar County to the Lower Valley of El Paso County.
