Senator Glenn Hegar's statement regarding Federal Judge Yeakel's ruling on challenge to Pro-Life legislation
"This legislation plays a critically important role in improving safety standards for women and protecting the lives of unborn children. I am extremely disappointed in Judge Yeakel's opinion, which delays the implementation of certain provisions of HB 2. Earlier today, the Attorney General's office appealed the court's ruling. I have absolute confidence that they will continue the legal fight to ensure the enactment of this legislation in its entirety and will ultimately be successful in their efforts."
Senator Hegar served two terms in the Texas House of Representatives and now represents Senate District 18 in the Texas Senate. Senate District 18 contains all or part of twenty-one Counties and over one-third of the Texas coastline. He is a sixth generation Texan, and earns a living farming on land that has been in his family since the mid-1800s. He currently resides in Katy, Texas with his wife Dara, and their three children, Claire, Julia, and Jonah.
