Statement from Senator Seliger on Comments Made by Dr. Armendariz Regarding the Enforcement Strategy of the Environmental Protection Agency

"The comments made by Dr. Armendariz are reprehensible and far beyond the boundaries and duties of his job. President Barack Obama should politely and diplomatically remove him from his position as EPA Regional Director. This enforcement strategy with the oil and gas industry is the same employed by U.S. Fish & Wildlife and the current, unfounded potential listing of the dunes sagebrush lizard. The Administration is more intent on forcefully pushing their ideological agenda onto the backs of Texas industry than simply doing their jobs and protecting the environment and human health and safety. In light of the administration's lackluster economic leadership and unnecessary burdens on business and the tax base, I look forward to discussing the facts at the Senate Natural Resources Subcommittee hearing on the implications of listing the dunes sagebrush lizard on the endangered species list on Monday."
