Senator Seliger Advances Congressional District Map in the Senate
AUSTIN - Today, the Texas Senate passed Senate Bill 4 by Senator Kel Seliger (R-Amarillo), his proposed map of congressional districts for the State of Texas, in the First Called Session of the 82nd Legislature.
"Since entrusted with the chairmanship of the Senate's redistricting committee, I have consistently held to the belief that it is the duty of the Legislature to draw the maps for our state's congressional districts, especially in light of the considerable population growth in Texas in the last decade. Though the process was not without contention and disagreement, I firmly believe that this map is a reflection of the significant efforts of the Senate to fulfill that duty, and ensures that all Texans are fairly and legally represented in the United States Congress."
Senate Bill 4 will now be sent to the Texas House of Representatives for its consideration and approval.
