Senator Estes Receives Appointment by Lieutenant Governor
Austin — State Senator Craig Estes (R-Wichita Falls) has been appointed by Lieutenant Governor David Dewhurst to represent the State of Texas on the Agriculture and Rural Development Committee of the Southern Legislative Conference of The Council of State Governments for the 2009-2010 term.
"I know [Senator Estes] will serve the State of Texas and the Texas Senate with honor and distinction as a representative on this Southern Legislative Conference Committee," said Dewhurst in a letter announcing the appointment.
"I am proud to serve my State in any capacity I can, and I look forward to working with my colleagues from our fellow southern states as we work together to find the best strategies to promote agricultural and rural development," said Estes.
The SLC Agriculture and Rural Development Committee is the oldest standing committee in the Southern Legislative Conference and focuses on a variety of economic issues critical to the future of farming and rural communities.
Estes has served as the chairman of the Texas Senate Committee on Agriculture and Rural Affairs since January 2009 when it was created by the Lieutenant Governor to reflect the importance of rural Texas to our state's economy and heritage.
Senator Estes is Chairman of the Senate Committee on Agriculture and Rural Affairs, and represents Senate District 30 covering Archer, Baylor, Clay, Collin (part), Cooke, Denton (part), Grayson, Jack, Montague, Parker, Palo Pinto, Shackelford, Stephens, Throckmorton, Wichita, Wilbarger, Wise, and Young counties.
