Senator Estes Announces Intentions to Seek Another Term

AUSTIN --State Senator Craig Estes (R-Wichita Falls) announced that he intends to seek another term as State Senator for Senate District 30.

"Since my first election in 2001, I have had the distinct honor and pleasure to serve the good people of North Texas in the State Senate and with the permission of the people, I would like to continue serving our communities, counties, and region as your State Senator for another term," said Estes.

During the Regular Session of the 80th Legislature which concluded on May 28, Senator Estes secured an additional $150 million to restore funding for state and local parks, extended the Office of Rural and Community Affairs for another six years, and increased penalties for the production of meth in the presence of a minor.

"Looking forward, I see a continued need for our state to be a leader in the preservation of our natural resources, the development of alternative fuels and energy independence, and promoting economic growth in our great state. I will continue to fight for lower taxes, individual responsibility, and conservative values," added Estes.

Estes is Chairman of the Senate Subcommittee on Agriculture, Rural Affairs, and Coastal Resources; and Vice-Chair of the Senate Natural Resources Committee. Estes also serves on the Senate Committees for Business and Commerce, Veterans Affairs and Military Installations, International Trade and Relations, and the Senate Subcommittees for Base Realignment and Closure, and Emerging Technologies and Economic Development. He serves on the Sunset Advisory Commission and is Vice-Chair of the Legislative Rural Caucus.

Senate District 30 includes Archer, Baylor, Clay, Collin (part), Cooke, Denton (part), Grayson, Jack, Montague, Palo Pinto, Parker, Shackelford, Stephens, Throckmorton, Wichita, Wilbarger, Wise, and Young counties.

A formal announcement will be made later in the year.
