Senator José Rodríguez to appear on "The Show" on 1150 AM Saturday

Senator José Rodríguez will be a guest on "The Show with Hector and Abel" at 2 p.m. tomorrow (Saturday, Dec. 21) on The Fox AM 1150. He will discuss the House Bill 5, the education bill that among other things creates curriculum pathways geared toward career options, and the question of whether the state will require Algebra 2, considered a key indicator of college readiness, in all pathways. The State Board of Education (SBOE) is now proposing rules that do not require Algebra 2.

"All students should be college-ready whether they choose to attend or not," Senator Rodríguez said. "The draft SBOE rules would have required students to complete algebra II in each of the endorsements. The proposed default 'foundation plus endorsement' plan could have set all Texas students -- the majority of whom are Latino -- on a pathway to college success, regardless of whether a student ultimately chooses that path."

Senator Rodríguez will appear from 2-3 p.m. on The Show on The Fox AM 1150. The Show also may be streamed online at, and listeners may call in at 915.880.4376.
