Van de Putte on adoption of SB1 conference committee report
(Austin) — Today, the Texas Senate adopted the conference committee report on Senate Bill 1 (SB1), the general appropriations bill, moving Texas one step closer to having a final budget. Senator Leticia Van de Putte, D-San Antonio (District 26), issued the following statement:
"Although we still have not fully restored the public education funding that was cut so severely in the 2011 session, we have made steps in right direction," said Senator Van de Putte. "I voted in favor of SB1 because of the unprecedented amount of resources that it appropriates for our veterans and their families, from mental health funding to education to reducing the backlog of claims at VA. This budget moves us in the right direction and hopefully we will continue on this same path in next session."
