Senator Van de Putte Announces 83rd Legislature Staff
(Austin) —State Senator Leticia Van de Putte (District 26, Bexar County), today announced her staff for the 83rd Legislature.
"Behind every great legislator is a great staff," Sen. Van de Putte said. "I'll let the people of District 26 be the judge of whether I'm a great legislator, but I can tell you for certain that I have a great staff. They provide superb assistance to me in crafting legislation, and when you call my office, they'll be happy to help you navigate the complexities of state government."
Staff list follows, with comments from Sen. Van de Putte:
Gilbert Loredo, Chief of Staff — Gilbert has been with me since 1997, starting as a legislative aide, and I couldn't ask for a better Chief of Staff. He oversees all aspects of my Capitol and District offices and ensures things operate efficiently.
Ida Garcia-Musgrove, Legislative Director/General Counsel — Ida started with me in 2001 as an intern and worked her way up to Legislative Director. She heads up my agenda on lawmaking and steers my bills through the legislative process. She specializes in education and finance issues.
Imelda Treviño, Scheduler — As you can imagine, representing more than 800,000 people presents a time-management challenge. Imelda, who started with me this summer, keeps my schedule running smoothly.
Amber Hausenfluck, Deputy Legislative Director — Amber is a crucial jack-of-all trades in my office who performs innumerable tasks. She handles the State Affairs and Jurisprudence committees for me, and this session is spearheading an effort to reform the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission code.
Servando Esparza, Policy Analyst — Servando staffs the Business & Commerce Committee for me and handles natural resources and criminal justice, among other issues. He has been invaluable in my drive to stamp out human trafficking.
Sarah Clemons, Legislative Assistant — Sarah just joined my staff and will be handling Health & Human Services matters as well as the Agriculture, Rural Affairs & Homeland Security Committee and cybersecurity concerns.
Minnie Sanchez, Community Outreach Director — Working out of our District Office, Minnie plays a vital role in connecting me to the district, arranging numerous projects and events in San Antonio and handling constituent requests that come in to our office.
Alexis Fonseca, Communications Assistant — Another jack-of-all trades on our staff. Ask Alexis what she does, and she'll answer "everything." Drafting resolutions and proclamations, arranging events, and making travel plans are just a small part of her many duties.
Adriana Cabrera, Administrative Assistant — Call our San Antonio office, and Adriana's voice is likely the first one you'll hear. She does casework for me including helping families navigate our Health and Human Services and Criminal Justice systems, and she backs up Minnie and Alexis.
Lee Nichols, Communications Director — Lee reported for The Austin Chronicle for 15 years before joining me in 2011. He gets my message out to the public, helping with op-eds, media contacts, speaking engagements, and social media, among other tasks.
Veteran Affairs and Military Installations Office
Senator Van de Putte serves as chair of the Senate Veteran Affairs and Military Installations Office. Her committee staff:
Bill Wilson, Committee Director — Bill is my lead staffer on all veteran and military issues. I was very lucky to snag him last year from the Texas Veterans Commission, where he was Director of the Fund for Veterans' Assistance (FVA).
Cinda Johnson, Committee Clerk — Cinda just came on board to VAMI, but she's already proving to be a tremendous asset. The clerk handles the mountains of paperwork at the committee and ensures meetings run smoothly. She's a military spouse with extensive experience in providing support to military families.
