Senator Leticia Van de Putte and Representative Chisum hold Press Conference regarding Legislation which Encourages the Use of Hydrogen Fuel
(AUSTIN, TX) -- On March 22, at 9:30 am, Senator Leticia Van de Putte and Representative Chisum will hold a press conference, on Colorado between 12th and 13th streets (on the West side of the Capitol), regarding their bill package which is intended to promote the use of hydrogen as an alternative fuel.
The bill package includes tax reductions and loan programs for the hydrogen industry and sales tax exemption, access to HOV lanes and free toll passes for consumers. Although Texas has 13 hydrogen refineries and is second only to California in production, hydrogen fuel is not typically utilized by consumers.
The Press Conference is being held in conjunction with the Texas H2 Coalition "ride and drive event," which will also be held on March 22. The event is open to the legislature from 9:00 am until 11:30 am, when members will be allowed to drive the vehicles. The event will be open to the general public from 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm. Six hydrogen vehicles will be featured provided by Toyota, GM, BMW, Volkswagen and Daimler Chrysler. The vehicles will be located on Colorado between 12th and 13th streets.
The public can attend and drive the hydrogen vehicles free of charge. A valid driver's license is required.
