SENATOR VAN DE PUTTE AND REPRESENTATIVE MCCLENDON PASS THE AWOL TRUSTEE BILL

Today, Senator Leticia Van de Putte and Representative Ruth Jones McClendon passed Senate Bill 114 which provides for the removal of an uncooperative junior college board member who refuses to attend board meetings. Senator Van de Putte stated, "I filed Senate Bill 114 to address the problem of absenteeism on the Alamo Community College District board."

"An integral part of a board member's job is to attend the board meetings in which business is discussed and decided," Senator Van de Putte said. "Board members are elected by the public with the expectation of active representation for the decisions made at these board meetings."

Representative McClendon added "I am excited about the passage of S.B. 114 as it will empower our communities with the ability to ensure that their board members are accountable and responsible to the people that they have been elected to represent."
