Fraser Announces Abilene Christian University to Receive Generous Grant
Abilene -- State Senator Troy Fraser (R-Horseshoe Bay) joined with Abilene community
leaders on Thursday in announcing that Abilene Christian University (ACU) will
receive a three-year grant from the AT&T Foundation totaling $1,000,000.
"Abilene Christian
University is a leader in higher education not only throughout this state but our
nation," Fraser said. "This generous grant will help enhance the
learning opportunities that ACU strives to offer all of its students."
ACU will use the money for
developing the technological infrastructure for the Bob and Shirley Hunter
Welcome Center. This includes the telecommunications system with multi-media
components as well as state-of-the-art electronic media presentation
capabilities, computer operations and connectivity to the main campus systems.
"We are extremely grateful
to Sen. Troy Fraser for his strong advocacy of this grant request. We are also
thankful to the AT&T Foundation for the generous gift," ACU President
Dr. Royce Money said. "This grant will provide the technological
infrastructure of our new Bob and Shirley Hunter Welcome Center."
"We're honored to help
further this university's mission of preparing young people to be the leaders
of tomorrow," said AT&T Texas President Jim Epperson. "And I can
think of no better examples of leaders than Dr. Bob Hunter and Senator Troy
Fraser."
ACU has a diverse and global
environment, which enriches student learning. The university offers generous
scholarships to incoming students with exceptional academic records and
demonstrated leadership skills, and ACU attracts some of the nation's brightest
students who want to study in a Christian environment.
