Interim Dyslexia and Related Disorders Committee To Hold Dallas Hearing
DALLAS -- The Interim Committee to Study Dyslexia and Related Disorders will hold its next hearing on Monday, August 2, at 1 p.m at the Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children in Dallas. Public and invited testimony will be heard as the committee considers access to treatment in rural areas, the role of public education and higher education in detection and treatment, treatment for older students and adults, and any barriers related to accommodations for individuals with dyslexia.
The committee was created by House Bill 461 of the 81st Legislative session, to study and recommend legislation to increase awareness, early detection and treatment of dyslexia and related disorders. Two senators and two House members join five public members appointed by Gov. Perry to serve on the committee.
