Texas Offering Rebates on New Appliances
The Energy Efficient Appliance Rebate Program will issue rebates to Texans replacing certain old appliances
AUSTIN — For those looking to save money and conserve energy, the Texas Comptroller's office today started offering substantial rebates to state residents for replacing certain older appliances with new ENERGY STAR-rated appliances. Eligible appliances include but are not limited to refrigerators, dishwashers and water heaters, and must be bought in-store at a Texas retailer between April 16 and April 25, 2010.
The program will also offer an additional $75 incentive to recycle old appliances and will be administered through the Comptroller's State Energy Conservation Office (SECO). The Texas Trade Up Rebate Program is made possible by a $23 million grant from the U.S. Department of Energy and is the first of its kind in Texas.
Although qualifying appliances cannot be bought until April 16, consumers may begin reserving a rebate now by calling (877) 780-3039 or visiting www.TexasPowerfulSmart.org, and will have 60 days from the reservation date to install the appliance and submit their paperwork. After the reserved mail-in rebates are awarded, remaining funds will be rebated on a first-come, first-served basis.
For additional information about the rebate, including contact information to reserve a rebate and answers to frequently asked questions, visit the Comptroller's SECO Web site at www.secostimulus.org/rebate.
