Deuell Receives Committee Assignments
AUSTIN — On Friday, Senator Robert F. "Bob" Deuell (R-Greenville) received his committee appointments for the 81st Legislative Session from Lt. Governor David Dewhurst.
Senator Deuell's committee appointments for the 81st Legislature are as follows:
- Health and Human Services – Vice Chair
- State Affairs – Vice Chair
- Natural Resources
- Economic Development
Following the announcement, Senator Deuell commented on his assignments.
"I am excited to receive my committee assignments and am eager to get to work," Deuell said. "Once again, I am pleased that Gov. Dewhurst has given assignments that play to my strengths, and will allow me to work for the citizens of Texas and Senate District Two to the best of my abilities."
Deuell was especially pleased to retain his seat on the powerful Senate Finance Committee.
"My serving on the Finance Committee will continue to assure that my district and its constituents are represented in the budget," Deuell said. "With a tighter budget, fiscal responsibility is especially important and I look forward to working with my colleagues towards conservative, responsible solutions."
In addition, Deuell will be serving his second session as Vice-Chair of the Senate Health and Human Services Committee.
"I am flattered that I have been asked to continue serving as Vice-Chair of this important committee ," Deuell said. "As a practicing family physician, I believe my background and experience allows me a unique perspective in seeing how proposed health legislation would affect people and their families. I have enjoyed my time on the committee and look forward to further service this session."
Deuell also commented on his appointment as Vice-Chair of the Senate State Affairs Committee.
"State Affairs deals with many of the most important issues facing our state," Deuell said. "We will be reviewing bills dealing with insurance, ethics reform, elections and a variety of other areas of public policy."
Senator Deuell will again serve on the Natural Resources Committee and will also serve on the Senate Committee on Economic Development.
