Deuell Appointed Vice-Chair of Rural Caucus
AUSTIN -- On Tuesday, State Senator Robert F. Deuell (R - Greenville), was appointed to serve as Vice-Chairman of the Rural Caucus of the Texas Legislature. Deuell was appointed to serve by the Chairman of the Rural Caucus, Rep. Robby Cook (D - Eagle Lake).
The caucus currently has 83 members, including the Commissioner of Agriculture, Susan Combs. The Caucus exists as an informational source for members of the Texas Legislature. Throughout this legislative session, weekly meetings will be held to provide members with valuable insight into issues that impact the rural areas of Texas.
Deuell said he is honored to be selected to serve on the Caucus' executive committee.
"We are fortunate to have so many leaders willing to work on issues important to their district and rural Texas," Sen. Deuell said. "We have expertise in education, transportation, natural resources and budget issues. All rural members will play a key role in developing and shaping policy in an effort to address long-standing rural issues in our state."
"I feel that the Rural Caucus will play an important role in this legislative session," Deuell said. "Issues such as transportation, accessibility of quality medical care, and public school finance are important to the rural areas I represent. I look forward to working with my colleagues in the Caucus to address these issues."
