AUSTIN - On Thursday, Senator Robert F. "Bob" Deuell (R-Greenville) received his committee appointments for the 78th Legislative Session from Lt. Governor-elect David Dewhurst.
Senator Deuell's committee appointments for the 78th Legislature are as follows:
Nominations - Vice Chair
Health and Human Services
Infrastructure Development and Security
Following the announcement, Senator Deuell commented on his assignments.
"I am very pleased with my committee assignments and very grateful to Governor Dewhurst," Deuell said. "I feel these assignment play to my strengths, and will allow me to serve the citizens of Texas and Senate District Two to the best of my abilities."
Deuell was especially pleased to be named Vice Chair of the Nominations Committee.
"Nominations is a huge responsibility," Deuell said. "I look forward to working closely with Governor Perry's office to make sure we have the best possible people serving on our boards and commissions."
The appointments process for boards and commissions, by virtue of the procedure prescribed in the Texas Constitution, requires the nomination of a person by the Governor be confirmed by the Texas Senate.
Deuell also commented on his appointment to the Health and Human Services Committee.
"A cornerstone of my campaign was ensuring all Texans receive quality medical care," Deuell said. "I believe my background and experience as a family physician will be a great resource."
Deuell was also appointed to the newly formed Committee on Infrastructure Development and Security.
"Infrastructure Development will be focusing heavily on transportation issues which are vitally important to the areas located within Senate District Two," Deuell said.
