TAC NAMES SEN. CARLOS URESTI A FRIEND OF COUNTY GOVERNMENT
The Texas Association of Counties (TAC) has named Sen. Carlos Uresti a Friend of County Government for his work during the 82nd Legislative Session.
Uresti's leadership helped pass SB 1505, legislation correcting oil and gas property undervaluations. The undervaluations caused a loss of revenue to local government and additional burdens on local homeowners and small businesses. TAC also appreciates the senator's efforts to preserve local control for counties and their taxpayers.
"Given the size and diversity of his senatorial district, Senator Uresti understands the differences between Texas counties and knows that one size does not fit all. He knows local leaders are best prepared to make decisions affecting their own communities," said TAC Legislative Director Paul Sugg. "All county officials thank the senator for his invaluable work over the last several years on fixing how we tax oil and gas properties."
TAC is a statewide non-profit organization that represents counties at the Capitol, conducts required continuing education for officials and provides other needed services for county government.
The award will be presented to Uresti at the Bexar County Commissioners Court meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 18 at 11 a.m.
